Description

An exciting young pianist from Ethiopia, Samuel Yirga first became known through his outstanding playing with Dub Colossus. Samuel experiments with Jazz, Latin, and the traditional songs of his country’s roots, re-writing contemporary Ethiopian music for the new generation. This selection of four tracks showcases Samuel’s playing – both bold and sensitive, often improvised, always deeply impassioned. A recent graduate from music school in Addis Ababa, Samuel’s reputation is growing fast as a player and composer.
