Description
Munster scaled twin peaks in the 2010-2011 season by first defeating the touring Australians in a thrilling November clash that more than lived up to the mighty traditions of Munster Rugby and then capturing the Magners League after a final showdown against arch rivals Leinster.
The Magners League victory was Munster s second in three seasons, their third in total, with consistency and winning all but three matches seeing them end the League phase 13 points clear of their nearest rivals. They faced title holders Ospreys at home in the semi-final, the hard fought 18-11 win earning them a Thomond Park Stadium final date against Leinster.
Finding themselves in the unusual position of underdog against the newly crowned European Champions, Munster went behind at the close of the third quarter but rallied superbly to triumph at the end of what was a pulsating game of rugby in front of a packed house.
Munster s record against international touring sides, dating back a century or more, is well documented and this season that proud tradition was continued. The Australians came to Thomond Park Stadium where they faced an ocean of Red from the stands and red hot intensity visited on them by the James Coughlan led home side that they simply couldn t cope with. Paul Warwick playing in his final season for the club scored all of Munster s points against his Wallaby countrymen and for that other Munster Aussie, Tony McGahan, it would be a victory perhaps sweeter than any other...
All of this and more is available on this two disc DVD set....
