The Spanish singer Montserrat Caballé, one of the great sopranos, also called “La Superba" 34, was known for her floating pianissimi. In addition to the parade parts of the Belcanto with works by Bellini, Donizetti, Rossini and the early Verdi, she also sang Puccini and the French subject, as well as songs from Andalusia and other Spanish regions with a particularly powerful ease.
