The Stradivari series from harmonia mundi allows listeners to explore the rare instruments preserved at the Philharmonie de Paris's Museum of Music. Classically trained jazz violinist Mathias Lvy began his studies at the age of five. At sixteen he won a first prize at the Conservatoire du Raincy and in 2011, he won the Grand Prix Stphane Grappelli at the Calais International Festival. Lvy is a serious student of the music of Stephane Grappelli. In recent years Lvy has developed a number of programs dedicated to the co-founder of jazz manouche. This release, which features Lvy playing the violin owned by Stphane Grappelli, further explores the music of a true jazz master.
