Originally recorded in 1968, Arias by Verdi and Donizetti begins with a selection of arias from four Verdi operas - Luisa Miller, I due Foscari, Un ballo in maschera and Macbeth. This is followed by arias from four of Donizetti’s operas: Lucia di Lammermoor, Il duca d’Alba, La Favorita and Don Sebastiano on the album’s second side. The recording contains arguably some of the most natural and perfect singing of Pavarotti’s entire career, complemented by striking cover art reflected in the new yellow vinyl.
