Description

A-list action movie hero, Jean-Claude Van Damme, the iconic "Muscles from Brussels": a massive box office hit in movies such as Universal Soldier and Timecop, now throws open the doors to his private world, allowing cameras access behind the scenes--at home and on set. In this observational documentary you'll join JCVD and his family and discover the man behind the macho image. Experience the roller coaster life of the Van Damme family who have homes in Vancouver, LA and Brussels. But the cameras won’t only be in the domestic setting. You'll also see JCVD on movie sets in Europe, USA and Canada as he performs in his latest productions, including Universal Soldier III. Amazon.co.uk Review Whatever Steven Seagal can do, Jean-Claude Van Damme can do, too. That’s the lesson of Jean-Claude Van Damme: Behind Closed Doors, and it’s a show that pretty much makes good on its title. It’s a reality TV programme, that follows JCVD around, going behind the scenes on the set of his productions, and also following him home. While it inevitably only shows you so much, Jean-Claude Van Damme is nonetheless more candid than you may be expecting. It’s very much a warts and all portrayal of the man, and while it’s still throwaway entertainment, it’s nonetheless worth watching. It works because, for better or worse, Van Damme commits to the project, often putting across an image that jars with that of the hard man, action movie star. And while there’s inevitably an element of novelty factor to the show, the episodes here, presented on a two-disc set, are easy to watch, and happily entertaining. For an added bonus, pick yourself up a copy of the movie JCVD at the same time. That and Jean-Claude Van Damme: Behind Closed Doors very much deserve to live side by side.
