Fast and furious racing fun!
Already available for the Xbox (under the name Crash) this Destruction Derby-style car wrecking sim now graces Sony's Playstation 2. The premise basically revolves around the idea of taking hot rods, muscle cars and performance marques and smashing the pants out of them. Described as a game that runs on pure adrenaline, Crashed gives the player the chance to commandeer highly desirable vehicles, leaving behind a trail of mangled metal and broken glass.With emphasis on a 'simple yet effective' concept, the game utilises a dedicated 3D engine to do a great deal more than previously possible in terms of extensive vehicle deformation. The two core features of Crash are the high detail level of the cars themselves and the damage the player is able to unleash on them. With car models totalling some extensive polygon counts and featuring over 30 detachable parts, a great many possibilities are available for real-time car wrecking.The game itself features both Single and Multi-player modes. Career Mode starts the player with three cars and three regions to play in. Various different challenges must be completed successfully, thus rewarding the player with new areas, challenges and vehicles. Arcade mode allows the player to play in one-off games featuring the cars and levels unlocked in Career Mode.A key focus has been placed on the design of the multi-player aspect of the game, with two players supported across an extensive array of game modes, such as Team Mode, Deathmatch, Multitag, Time Limit and Score Limit. Crash is intended to have as much importance placed on this mode as is placed on the single player game.Altogether, Crashed features 18 individual, customisable game types and challenges, including a dedicated stuntman mode (a somewhat popular concept these days) and novelties such as target and bus jumping. That's quite a lot for your 40 quid.
