Put simply, it's a strategy game in which you command the frontline forces in tomorrow's most hazardous conflicts.JTF enables players to match superior tactics and military technology against various dangerous and 'unconventional' forces around the globe. Perhaps more than anything, the real unique hook for RTS fans is the exacting attention to detail. For example, you will experience buildings that dynamically collapse and get to drive military vehicles that are faithfully modelled down to the last rivet. It is this amazing level of detail that really helps the game to stand out in what is an increasingly crowded RTS wargames market.As well as the superb 3D graphics, the amazing level of vehicle detail and the changing weather conditions, JTF also boasts, for the gun freaks out there, a wide array of highly accurate weapons and other equipment thanks to licensing agreements with several leading military hardware manufacturers. So the level of realism, for those who are attentive to those types of things, is equally impressive.The background story to the game is as follows: in 2007, neither the US, UN nor NATO have the power to pacify the numerous combat hot spots blazing around the globe. To quell the global rise of terrorism, dictators and insurgents, Western Leaders create the Joint Task Force'an ultra-modern and highly elite military squad. The player takes control of the JTF to combat various oppressive regimes around the world.This, you will have noticed from the above story outline, is strikingly close to the geo-political crisis of the early 21st century, although playing Joint Task Force is different in one essential way; unlike the disgust one feels when watching reports on the latest war atrocities on CNN or BBC, JTF is actually (and, for the liberals amongst us, guiltily) a lot of fun.With twenty in-depth missions, you need to learn how to maximise your combined arms - infantry, tanks, artillery, reconnaissance and helicopters - against the terrorists and insurgents. Thankfully the REAL 2007 is just a little more placid that the world of Joint Task Force.
